Lentils With Garlic And Onion Recipe

Ingredients

4 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
4 garlic cloves, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup lentils, washed & drained
3 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne



Directions: How to Cook Lentils With Garlic And Onion

Heat oil over medium heat. When hot, add cumin seeds & let sizzle for a few seconds. Add the garlic & stir-fry till the garlic changes colour. Put in the onion & stir-fry until they begin to brown at the edges. Add the lentils & water. Bring to a boil, cover & simmer for about an hour, or until the lentils are tender. Add salt & cayenne. Stir to mix & cook another 5 minutes.

I liked this recipe very much. Its simple but tasty. The spices aren't overpowering so it goes well with many side dishes, including more highly spiced curries.
