3/4 cup basmati or long grain rice
1 1/2 cup less 2 tb water
1 teaspoon oil
1 salt to taste

Directions: How to Cook Biryani Rice

Wash rice and put in a small saucepan with all above ingredients. Bring it to a boil on high heat, then cover and simmer gently until all the water is absorbed. The grains should be tender but firm. Set aside uncovered.

I assure you this is not Biryani rice. Birayani rice is usually done with cinnamon, bay leaves etc., Onion, Tomato and other spices are fried and then added to the rice with chicken etc.,

I have had really, fantastic proper Biryani rice - trust me this is not it!!!!!
